Gansitos are cookie sandwiches with a strawberry and jelly filling, finished with a chocolate coating. Soft yet crunchy, these cookies are said to go great with coffee. Many people also like to put them in the freezer and consume as a frozen treat. Gansito (which means “little goose” in Spanish) was first created in 1957 and since it’s inception has become an extremely popular snack in Mexico. It’s branding in the country is strong that in a study conducted, 92% of children recognized Gansito’s brand mascot (a cartoon goose), in contrast to only 19% recognition for basic Mexican history dates.
